This weekend’s sprint car races, weather permitting…

You might want to check with the tracks first before you head out this weekend.

It’s been raining a lot this week and both of your options this weekend are on dirt, so check with your track of choice before packing up the family truckster and heading out.

The East Bay Sprint Series is scheduled for Saturday and last time out our Editor at Speed rejoiced as Sport Allen parked himself in victory lane with his new team. Our Editor at Speed is the Sport Allen Fan Club President, in case you didn’t know.

As of right now, the pilot of the Shaw house car, Stephen Darvalics sits on top of the East Bay Sprint Series points battled, followed by crowd favorite Kerry Gilbert.

You know who Kerry Gilbert is, right?

Ok, good.

Well behind him in the points is Billy Boyd, and fourth is Tim George and rounding out the top five is Capt. Tony Agin.

Also on the bill is the FMSA, which is always a hoot at East Bay. Championship contender Gavin Thomas slides over to the Jesse Teed-owned Triple X chassis and our Editor at Speed “The Hot Foot” Brian Penrose returns to competition. Weather permitting, this should be a damn fine double bill.

The Southern State Lightning Sprints were to have a two night double header up at Marion County Speedway, but Friday night has already been rained out. If the weather holds up, they’ll be in action Saturday night, but as with both tracks, call ahead as more rain is forecast for Saturday.

So what are you to do? Well, you can add your two cents to the TBARA discussion going on here on the website. So far (as of 2:38 PM Friday afternoon) all of the commentary has been good and constructive.
